A Reflection on the Last Fifteen Years of My Life

It all began at 4:35 am on 4th September 2010.
A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Christchurch, centered just outside Darfield, about 40km from where I was. The quake originated at a depth of 10km on what would soon be known as the Greendale Fault.

More about the new fault line

Thousands of aftershocks followed. We eventually got so used to them that we’d casually guess their magnitudes with friends, family, and coworkers — and we became surprisingly accurate with the 3s and 4s.

That day fundamentally changed my outlook on life.
I’m not here to convince you of anything. All I ask is that you keep an open mind. Question everything. Do your own research. Never accept what someone says at face value without verifying the information yourself.

At this stage a few months (3-4) after the first quake, I had a mortgage ("dead pledge"), paying rent ("to give back" or "return") working ("to apply or devote") 70-80 hours per week as a "wage slave".
I was at work at around 70 hours in for the week, by myself at this time i think it was a Saturday afternoon/evening and I just asked myself "why the fuck are you doing this for?"
Stuff in (= etymology), "myself", after studying massage learning a little Latin and knowing a little etymology were very helpful in getting the bigger picture :P
It was an weird experience when I just seen my whole life from been a baby in hospital for many years, to the September earthquakes and how people around me felt at the time with the feeling of been scared. I was like WTF just happened, went outside to have a ciggy and was like wtf no I'm just tired, highly stressed, overworked, depressed, isolation getting into unhealthy habits as in diet, no sleep, smoking and alcohol, and missing getting the sun into my eyes, as this was an inside job at the time, not civil construction I was working for Southern Cross Pumps under Tyco/Pentair. This flash back stuck with me for a while, until I fully processed it and some of it took years to fully understand.

.:: I will keep adding to this over time ::.
Not long ago, I had the opportunity to step away from the usual routine and fully immerse myself in study while working as a live-in carer. This period gave me the rare gift of time — time to reflect deeply on myself and on life in general.
I want to share some of the conclusions I’ve reached, and more importantly, how I arrived at them.
