It all began at 4:35 am on 4th September 2010.
A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Christchurch, centered just outside Darfield, about 40km from where I was. The quake originated at a depth of 10km on what would soon be known as the Greendale Fault.

More about the new fault line

Thousands of aftershocks followed. We eventually got so used to them that we’d casually guess their magnitudes with friends, family, and coworkers — and we became surprisingly accurate with the 3s and 4s.

That day fundamentally changed my outlook on life.
I’m not here to convince you of anything. All I ask is that you keep an open mind. Question everything. Do your own research. Never accept what someone says at face value without verifying the information yourself.

Not long ago, I had the opportunity to step away from the usual routine and fully immerse myself in study while working as a live-in carer. This period gave me the rare gift of time — time to reflect deeply on myself and on life in general.
I want to share some of the conclusions I’ve reached, and more importantly, how I arrived at them.
